What’s on the menu – Medicines Implementation at NICE

We’re often asked for our advice and input on various hot topics affecting market access across the UK and Ireland so we felt it would be worthwhile to create a new monthly forum to examine in more detail some of these key topics.

At these succinct AXIS-facilitated webinars, which we will hold over lunch time, we will have a variety of guests join us for an informal chat to get “under the hood” of a particular hot topic of the day!

The first webinar in the new “What’s on the menu for Early Access – a lunchtime AXIS webinar series” is scheduled for 1.20 pm on Thursday 6th November. Carl Prescott will facilitate the first of these webinars, and on Nov 6th his special guest will be Shelly Patel.

Shelly is a clinical pharmacist with over 20 years’ experience in the NHS and spent the last 12 years at NICE with roles including Medicines Implementation Consultant, supporting adoption and implementation of NICE guidance.

NICE recommendations are based on lifetime cost-effectiveness, yet commissioners need to find money to pay for new medicines in immediate budgets. In a difficult financial environment in the NHS, this can lead to blockages and obstacles. This session will prove invaluable for those looking for how to maximize the chances of patients getting quick access to medicines, helping to navigate the complex implementation journey. Shelly has invaluable insights from both private and public sector sides to bring to the conversation we will have on Nov 6th.
